  • Oct '19: Claire's paper on "Pd(II)-Catalyzed Enantioselective Desymmetrization of Polycyclic Cyclohexenediones: Conjugate Addition versus Oxidative Heck" has been published in Org. Lett. Well done!
  • Sept '19: Congrats to Chris who won one of the 3 poster prizes at the RSC Chemical Sciences Functional Organic Materials Symposium (24-25 Sept 2019, Burlington House, London). Euan wins the EPS Institute of Chemical Sciences 2nd Year Postgraduate Prize and presents on EPS Postgraduate Research Day. We welcome Erasmus exchange student Nemrud Demirel and MChem project students Olly Wright, Ben Donkin and Orla Cassidy.
  • Aug '19: Matthew's MChem research project work on "Metal-, Photocatalyst- and Light-Free Direct C-H Acylation and Carbamoylation of Heterocycles" has been accepted for publication in Org. Lett. Well done! Congratulations to Euan, who has won the EPS Postgraduate Research 2nd Year Prize for ICS. Euan and Ai-Lan's "News and Views" piece on Mouri├Ęs-Mansuy, Ollivier and Fensterbank's work has been published in Nature Chemistry.
  • June '19: Congratulations to project students Stuart, Francesca and Matthew who graduate with their well deserved MChem (Hons) degrees. Well done to Matthew who won the William Perkin Prize. All the best for the future! Congrats to Claire who won a best talk prize at the Institute of Chemical Sciences Final Year PhD Talks.
  • April '19: Claire presents a talk at the 30th SCI Regional Postgraduate Symposium, University of Glasgow, 15th April. Euan starts his placement at Syngenta. Claire presents a talk and Euan presents a poster at the CRITICAT Annual Catalysis Conference held at Heriot-Watt University, 8-9 April, an event organised by Heriot-Watt CRITICAT students this year. We welcome CRITICAT student Chris Thomson, who is jointly supervised with Dr Filipe Vilela.
  • Mar '19: Congratulations to Euan, Vincent and Sebastian whose work on "Dual Copper- and Photoredox-Catalysed C(sp2)-C(sp3) Coupling" has been published in Chem. Commun.
  • Feb '19: Congratulations to Marcos whose work on "Silver Effect in Regiodivergent Gold-Catalysed Hydroaminations" has been published in ACS Catalysis.
  • Nov-Dec '18: Congratulations to Dan who passed his viva! Well done! Claire was selected to present as part of the UK delegation to the 14th National Organic Symposium Trust Symposium for Research Scholars (J-NOST-14) iat CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India from 28 Nov-1st Dec 2018. While very jet-lagged, Claire also presented her work at the 2018 RSC Organic Division Poster Symposium at RSC Burlington House, London on 3rd December 2018. Well done, Claire! Claire and Euan present posters at the RSC Scottish Organic Division Meeting, University of Strathclyde, 17th December 2018.
  • Aug-Sep '18: Welcome to MChem project students Matthew, Stuart and Francesca. Congratulations to Claire who won an EPS 2nd Year Postgraduate Research Prize. Dan presents a poster on his research at the 7th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress, Liverpool, 26-30 August 2018.
  • June '18: Congrats to Dan who won one of the "best talk" prizes at the ICS Final Year PhD Talks, 14th June. Welcome to RSC Undergraduate Research Bursary summer student Matthew Westwood. Congrats to project students Conor, Lennart and Calvin who graduate this summer.
  • May '18: Our work on "Rapid Iododeboronation with and without Gold Catalysis: Application to Radiolabelling of Arenes" in collaboration with Dr Andy Sutherland at University of Glasgow (here) has been highlighted in Synfacts (by: Timothy M. Swager and Martin D. Peeks, thank you!).
  • Mar '18: Congratulations to Dan, Luke (MChem project student 2016-2017) and Stuart (previous summer project student 2017) whose paper, "Gold(I)-Catalysed Hydroarylation of 1,3 Disubstituted Allenes with Efficient Axial-to-Point Chirality Transfer" has been accepted in Chem. Eur. J. We welcome back ex-Lee Group member Dr Paul Young (Johnson Matthey) who delivered the PPICSS Institute of Chemical Sciences talk: “From Heriot-Watt to a Career with Opiates”.
  • Oct '17: Congrats to Claire who won the EPS 1st Year Postgraduate Research Prize and Dan who won the EPS 2nd Year Postgraduate Research Prize. Claire and Dan also enthuse members of the public at the "Midlothian Science Festival Gala Day", as part of the Heriot-Watt PPICS contingent.
